Discovery

The goal of our Discovery program is to introduce young children to the Presbyterian Church, the Bible, and the love of God.  A group of volunteers from the congregation rotate teaching the Discovery class. 

We currently use the SPARK classroom curriculum, a Sunday school faith formation program for kids ages 2 – Grade 6.  With Spark, kids hear stories from a Story Bible each week and engage in Scripture. Spark lessons are designed to engage every child in active learning! Age-appropriate lessons reinforce key points of the stories and help kids get more out of Sunday school, no matter what their learning style may be.  Through stories, puzzles, crafts, games and song our children learn about God’s love through the classic stories of the Bible. 

The children also discuss what they learned at the children’s time during the first half of our church service.  Through participation in the worship service our children begin to understand the flow of worship, hymns and prayer, and it allows our congregation an opportunity to hear from our children.  The children typically leave worship following their part of the service for supervised play although they are welcome to remain throughout the entire service.
