Youth Group

The Gladwyne Presbyterian Church Youth Group is unique, fun, and a great way to make friends.  The youth group ranges from seventh through twelfth grades and has all walks of life.  The small group allows for an intimate atmosphere but also allows for everyone to have his/her own voice and be known.  The beauty of a small youth group is that the relationships made last a lifetime.

The youth group meets three Sundays a month in the morning for a Sunday school lesson which can range from acting, using fine arts, or just a bible study.  On the fourth Sunday the youth group goes out for a group breakfast that we like to call breakfast club.  Breakfast club is a time where we can relax and talk about the topics that are on our mind from the week.

Two Sundays a month there is youth group in the afternoon where the youth play games, eat, and have a bible study.  This is always a great time to get together with friends and the youth always have a great time just being together.  Friends are always welcome and anyone else who would like to join.

Along with getting together on Sundays, a few Saturdays throughout the year the youth do service projects around the city.  The service can range from planting trees, to building houses, to going to food banks.

A few times a year we go on weekend or overnight retreats where we can get away from the world and spend time together and with God.  Some past retreats that we have been on are Ski retreats in the wintertime and beginning of the school year retreats to Cape Henlopen in Delaware.

At the end of the year the youth go on a mission trip for a weeklong experience serving others and getting closer to God.  The mission trips in the past have included a week in Mississippi helping Katrina victims and a week in Nicaragua building latrines for a small village.  Take a look at our Youth Mission Trips photo gallery.  Each mission trip is carefully planned and includes fundraising throughout the year.

This year the youth are planning a mission trip to Costa Rica with the intention of building an ongoing relationship with the Costa Rican Presbyterian Church, which has two websites, La Iglesia Evangélica Presbiteriana Costarricense (IEPCR) and Costa Rica Presbyterian Border Ministries.
